I’m currently a Firefighter looking to possibly transition into a
safety job in the US. I have 5 yrs of experience and have Hazmat
certifications, fire Inspector, blood borne pathogens training,
Emergency Medical Technician, and a B.A. in Political Science. I’m
currently overseas contracting and looking to get some online
training to help make the transition. With my current credentials
and background will I be viable candidate once I complete some OSHA
classes? Will my experience as a firefighter be a plus? If so where
do I start with my safety training? What do I need at a minimum to
get my foot in the door? Am I entry level material or should I aim
a little higher? What are realistic earning potentials for a HSE
worker starting out? I need help. I don’t want to venture into this
blindly. Your professional opinions are greatly appreciated.

Hi,yes i would say your firefighting experience is a plus you could
still however undergo some OSHA certifications or OSHAcademy with
steve geigle at www.oshatrain.org, enrole for either the manager or
specialist or supr course i have done a hanfull of them online
however to really establish your career in the HSE field you might
have to attain professional memberships e.g CET or other. Goodluck
