Job Description
*Ensure effective implementation of the Corporate and Petroleum
HSE Management System
*Fatal Risk Controls, Petroleum HSE Controls and related
procedures, policies and practices and applicable regulations.
*Provide specialist HSE advice, assistance and support to the
exploration line managers and supervisors.
*Assist with HSE evaluation of new opportunities (new country
entry, new acreage opportunity, acquisitions, new office
openings, etc.).
*Provide management and oversight in preparation of environmental
assessment reports and HSE permitting for seismic and drilling
projects.
*Evaluate stakeholders and prepare plans and strategies to
implement the company's Community Consultation requirements.
*Assist with assessment and planning of travel to remote
locations and geologic field trips.
*Assist with the development of an exploration HSE management
system, including writing procedures.
*Promote a risk-based approach to exploration HSE management,
including coordinating and leading risk assessments,
environmental impact studies, occupational health risk
assessments, security assessments, etc.
*Participate in and when necessary lead HSE and HSE MS audits in
the field and contractor head office.
*Develop and implement emergency response and oil spill
contingency plans and provide HSE support to the relevant
emergency response teams.
*Assist with development of regulatory and compliance registers,
including tracking of regulatory approvals.
*Lead initiatives to promote visible and pro-active management
commitment and employee involvement in HSE activities, such as
safety meeting presentations and coordination of leadership site
visits.
*Develop, implement and track training plans and identify
specific training needs, provide training or facilitate visiting
specialist trainers.
*Facilitate formal incident investigations using the ICAM (root
cause) methodology where required and prepare supporting
documentation.
*Ensure that exploration HSE performance data is effectively
collected, stored, analysed, tracked and reported according to
internal procedures and regulatory requirement.
*Support the implementation and achievement of exploration HSE
objectives and performance measures.
*Lead initiatives to promote visible and pro-active management
commitment and employee involvement in HSE activities.
