Dear all
We are having a 200MT crawler crane with lattice boom at site.
There was a 4 fall rope in the crane. Now they extended the boom
with 2 fall rope. My doubt is
1. Whether the load chart is mentioning only boom capacity?
2. If yes then how to find rope capacity?
crane operator is telling that load chart value only for boom angle
and it's capacity. Rope is 28mm. Don't know what kind of rope
exactly and he is telling 14 MT capacity per fall.
Pls reply.

Hi,
I saw your post and, if the crane is ok, all papers in order....
it´s all just fine!
It´s not easy is not easy to put another
steel cable on the
crane, other than the
original, and that crane is prepared
to lift much more weight!
Is it a LIEBHERR?
More than a load diagram you shoul have a lifting plan... anyway
it´s a 14t lift, even in the worst scenario, it´s ok!....
The load chart has everthing in consideration: cable and all
components!!!
I work with all kind of cranes, up to 1000 t.

Hi, Do you know the crane model. All your questions about the
crane's capaitires and limitations will be answered when you review
the crane manual. When a crane configuration is modified it needs
to be re-inspected and recertified fit-for-use, the number of part
lines will be specified in the certificate - this will be a great
help (if the certifying oranization is reliable - beware of "mickey
mouse" certification companies). To revent this (risk) from
occuring again, it is good to do a comlete Risk Assessment for the
whole operation starting from crane selection.

Maybe I have some info about the crane. What Model is it (Liebherr,
American / Manitowok, etc). Hace you reviewed the third party
fit-for-use certification?
To be able to know exactly if the rope lay is proper and the rope ?
wire if of the forrect kind, more information is needed. It may not
be a good ideat to relyy 100% on the Crane Operator's remarks
unless he is the designated competent person of the company.
