About
I am experienced Consultant Occupational Hygienist based in the NE of Scotland. I work mainly in the oil & gas industry but also have experience of manufacturing, construction and the education sectors.
I will happily answer any technical questions on all aspects of occupational hygiene and, of course, will consider offers of consultancy work both locally and further afield.

by Cerith Brawn CMIOSH 7 months agoHi Richard, thanks for your comments in relation to my COSHH rant!!! and you're probably right in saying I was a little harsh in criticising COSHH Essentials, my main issue with it sometimes is it usability for small business, although admittedly it does provide and invaluable source of information and reference points.
Anyway, I would be interested in finding out a bit more about your role as a Occupational Hygienist and the type of services you would provide.

by Richard Brown 1 year agoI have started a wiki on free Health, Safety & Environment Information Sources which you can find here:
http://freeehsinformationsources.wikia.com/
Please view the site and leave any comments for improvements on the discussion page. If you know of any sites that are not listed please add them, particularly non-English sites. A wiki can be edited by anyone, so the more people that contribute the better and more useful the site will become.
I will continue to work on the site but will generally be limited to adding English speaking sites

Richard Brown commented on Richard Brown's picture.Air monitoring during flux cored arc welding. Not the position of the welder in the plume of smoke. Exposure was twice the WEL. He was using an air fed visor which provided good protection against the fume.
