I have worked in the Safety and Environmental field for a little over 10 years now. Before going into safety, I started my working career as a welder in the shipyards, as well as in the construction industry. I find this field both rewarding and challenging...to say the least. My advice to anyone wanting to break into the safety industry, learn an actual trade first. Work on your tools for a few years, and then go into safety. The workers will respect you more. It will also help you to understand what is going on in the field. Alot more than a book or a class that cannot properly prepare you for real world situations that you will encounter.
