Sole trader - CMIOSH, MIIRSM, Dip RSA - Chartered Safety Practitioner / Technical Safety Author - been self employed since September 2008 - owner of Glyn Atkinson Safety Services, based in N E Lincolnshire, but available to work wherever the client requires in England. Not able to permanently re-locate.
10 years of full time H&S employment after nearly 30 years of varied heavy industrial experience in different sectors as an instrument technician , validation and commissioning engineer, trades supervisor, general company dogsbody in charge of projects etc.
Been fully aware of safety regimes from apprenticeship days onwards, working to BS 5750 and ISO 9001 from early days. Took the usual route of safety rep in various workplaces through the years until the "bug" struck home and decided to go into it on a full time basis.
Qualified to NVQ 5 in Occupational Safety and Health, OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, and CIEH Trainer.
Fully insured through Hiscox for professional indemnity and public liability.

On site looking for short / long term contract work to supplement existing contracts. Have also been working on an associate basis with several H&S consultancies around the country - quite happy to take on work on this basis again.
Currently working on an application for CHAS system application assessment work and IOSH training course delivery. Networking with others on this site in regard to joint associate work.

I noted that you started of as a safety rep.I was convenor on a large constuction site until I got layed off. Due to not having NEBOSH qualifications ,although I am Tech IOSH, I am finding it difficult getting an advisors role in construction.I would be grateful for any advice you could give me
