About
I have worked in Accident Prevention off and on since 1971 when as a business major I was given the job of being the companies safety engineer.
I spent most evenings for the next year at two university libraries learning
just how and what safety engineers do. My training development, presentation, and reinforcement resulted in a 12% per year reduction in Workers Comp. and P & I insurance premiums as judged by very very conservative actuaries. In addition to a15% per year reduction in all accidents, without smoke and mirrors of light duty. Since that time I have been involved in many project jobs in oil or gas drilling, petro-chem construction, demolition and construction after hurricanes, maritime operations.
As the only and more than full time Safety Man for 5 million man hours per year I put myself through every First Aid, Emergency Response, Fire Fighting and EMT training we would send our field supervision through. I was honored with a full time study fellowship with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Leprosy Hospital at which time I studied physical therapy, wound care and prevention, medical illustration, and orthotic fabrication. After one year I was honored to be chosen Director of Wound Care and Prevention for a French operated foreign mission hospital. After 10 years I returned to America and was condemned to work 10 years as a stevedore in which time I earned my U.S. Coast Guard Masters license and worked on project jobs, and advisor to high risk workers comp. insureds for the Louisiana Workers Compensation Association.
As preventing accidents is my most successful work I am interested in contributing to that field in some way. Training development, presentation, would be perfect.
