Senior Quality Engineer – Hemel Hempstead, UK

An excellent opportunity to join a leading International medical and safety manufacturer. This is a Quality role for a multifaceted professional, combining customer-facing interaction with technical acumen.

While the role is office-based, the candidate will be required to travel worldwide when necessary. The Senior Quality Engineer position covers both medical and safety, managing escalated issues, working closely with regulatory authorities and offering day-to-day guidance to less experienced members of the team. The ideal candidate will exceed performance targets and, at the same time, genuinely display qualities and behaviours that will make them a valued member of the team.

The role – 

  • Offer guidance to Local Compliant Investigators and monitor progress to meet KPI’s
  • Complete all relevant training
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Monitor field actions to ensure that Safety Notices are distributed and any corrections are completed by deadlines
  • Deliver a high level of customer service concerning customer complaints
  • Track and report progress to ensure timely closure
  • Lead by example with a customer-centric approach and promote this throughout the organisation
  • Coordinate issues resolution
  • Work on the reduction of Local defective products (FOA’s)
  • Provide support with Root Cause Analyses, Risk Assessments and Action Plans
  • Report Quality KPIs, deliver monthly presentations and management reviews

The candidate – 

  • University graduate with a Science or Business degree is desirable
  • Competent in ISO9001: 2015 & ISO 13485:2016
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Possess UK driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Computer literate – proficient in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Prepared to travel as required
  • Experience of working in a Quality role
  • Previous management experience
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma is preferred
  • Customer-focused and reliable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments
  • Display strong leadership qualities when managing conflict
