What is your job title, where do you work and what do you do?
Food Safety Enthusiast & founder of The National College Of Hospitality. My passion is towards food safety & teaching new and existing hospitality professionals.
How did you get started in HSE?
The food safety element was first started by helping businesses manage costings & stock level management. Most of these businesses struggling on the business economics side also struggled understanding food safety requirements.
Why did you want to become an HSE People Champion?
Since I started working professionally I’ve always been passionate about giving knowledge and helping people. The HSE people gives me the perfect opportunity to connect with people who genuinely need help, advice and guidance.
Who or what inspires you?
I could name a few of the other HSE people champions but we all know each one of them are absolutely fantastic and a wealth of knowledge. The real inspiration comes from watching a business grow and develop and after many hours of hard work seeing it all pay off after an EHO visit gives them a 5, or they get SALSA approval.
What are you excited about for 2023?
After the last few years, officially nothing (Treading very carefully pretending we’re going to have a quiet uneventful year). But personally I am looking forward to continued connections with businesses and professionals working on championing food safety and the latest developments in the industry.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
Having watched the film “About Time” I would be very inclined to have a power that is similar to that. I’ve always held a belief that any absolute power must have some restriction or consequence.
