THE GHOST INSIDE: “WE WANT TO END OUR BAND ON OUR OWN TERMS, NOT BECAUSE OF SOME TRAGEDy”

The Ghost Inside will not be defeated by the events of November 2015

On July 13, The Ghost Inside played their first show since the tragic road accident of November 19, 2015. The collision between their bus and an oncoming truck left every member of the band with serious physical injuries and mental trauma, including drummer Andrew Tkaczyk losing the majority of his right leg.

But, as the band reveal exclusively to Kerrang!, this is cannot be the end.

“It would be unacceptable to me to let this beat us,” says Andrew. “We want to end our band on our own terms, not because of some tragedy.”

Bassist Jim Riley grins when asked if it’s important that the accident doesn’t define The Ghost Inside’s story.

“I want the accident to be a defining moment, but I don’t want it to be the thing that defines us. I would like for the life of the band to be as long after the accident as it was before the accident. And if we can convince people that they can overcome whatever’s going on with them, we are obligated by the universe to do that.

That is our greater purpose. That’s why we live.”

In the new issue of Kerrang!, each member of The Ghost Inside discusses in candid detail just what they’ve been through to get to this point. It’s a story of pain, resolve, unity and hope. Order your copy now.
