HSE People Panel – Kevin Robins – Occupational Health

The HSE People Panel is made up of specialists across different areas who have volunteered to share their insight and experience with the HSE People network.

Kevin Robins is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, A Fellow Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management and an accredited European Occupational Safety Manager.

Kevin is currently the HSQE Director for T Vaughan Ltd, a specialist Reinforced Concrete frame, Groundworks, Civil engineering, and Basements contractor in the construction industry. Here he sits on the Board of Directors and has overall responsibility for strategic HSQE, plant/fleet compliance, wellbeing, and all other legislative and compliance matters.

He has extensive experience in the Built Environment over the last 12 years, having worked across the rail, new build, heritage, fit-out, consultancy and regeneration sectors on projects across the UK and beyond. His Health & Safety career began in consultancy for a regional practice called SafeScope delivering CDM and construction safety services nationwide. Kevin had delivered training courses for notable clients such as Costa, British Trust for Ornithology, and numerous award-winning architectural practices.

Kevin moved onto a globally renowned multi-disciplinary practice, Rider Levett Bucknall, working with clients including McDonald’s, Tesco and the Royal Parks as the primary CDM/Health and Safety consultant for the South East and London, before making the move into the world of contracting full-time for the Lanes Group, specifically heading up the Rail Division where he was responsible for the HSQE deliverables across the London Underground infrastructure, as well as Network Rail and Crossrail.

A passionate advocate for a practical approach, Kevin has enjoyed success by helping many organisations effect positive change and creating a genuine safety culture.

Outside of professional work, Kevin has enjoyed a varied and successful voluntary portfolio of work. Most notably as the pro-bono CEO for a children’s special educational needs charity based in Surrey, Head2Head Sensory Theatre. Kevin has held many other part-time, project and other ongoing roles and commitments in the charity sector in an Occupational Safety and Health capacity.

Kevin is also a keen advocate for developing and mentoring the next generation of Occupational Safety and Health professionals and has given a lot of his time mentoring and supporting fellow professionals on a one-to-one basis with their career and educational development. He is currently a mentor with IIRSM as well as many other community platforms and from engaging with others directly on LinkedIn.

Kevin’s frequent self-acclaimed slogan is that we’re all ‘working towards Safetopia’.
