We are seeking to recruit on behalf of our client a  BEHAVIOURAL SAFETY LEAD who will be based in Qatar on a residential long term contract. Our client undertaking a transformation of the Corporate HSEQ function and are looking for Senior experienced HSEQ professionals who not only have solid discipline subject matter expertise but also the leadership and change management skills to help build a world class team. The Behavioural Safety Lead will be accountable to help shape and deliver pragmatic corporate standards, guidance and improvement strategies in the field of Behavioural Safety

  • To be able to hold the mirror up to the organisation and intervene with respect to help ensure the right choices are made
  • To be able to escalate critical HSE issues early to ensure the right level of engagement is taking place and  to help resolve dilemmas
  • To be able to provide clear direction and professional opinion in their own discipline in the absence of consensus or when others may disagree with their views
  • Understanding and empathy for the challenges of operational, engineering and project management line management positions


  • Develop pragmatic corporate safety standards, guidance and improvement strategies covering Behavioural Safety in support of the company’s vision and aspirations
  • Develop and support implementation of a corporate Behavioral Safety improvement plan including enhanced monitoring and reporting of proactive leading indicators
  • Project manage delivery of consultancy programs and resources
  • Manage field assessments, training and awareness campaigns to help develop local focused improvement programs for leadership and  local HSE teams
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support, coach and build the Occupational Safety  discipline and wider HSEQ function
  • Develop and lead knowledge transfer programs to enhance the awareness and understanding of Behavioral Safety and organizational culture in an Industrial context
  • Act with full independence in decision making at a corporate level
  • Act with full independence in facilitating senior and executive management engagement on Behavioral Safety and Organizational Culture
  • Review and evaluate recommendations from Managers, Assistant Managers and Section Heads to help shape and develop optimum improvement programs
  • Extensive collaboration and consultation with all company Directorates including operational, project and office based /corporate functions
  • Ability to project manage to tight deadlines
  • The successful candidate will need to personally deliver in their core discipline area as well as driving implementation by influencing decision makers and working with and through others


Experience/Qualifications Required

  • Educated to degree level in an Engineering, Science or Psychology discipline
  • Extensively experience in safety improvement programs focusing on leadership and organisational change  (+ 10 years)
  • Expert knowledge of Behavioural safety and organisational change management
  • Experience in Incident Investigation and root cause methodologies
  • Experience in leadership and organisational improvement projects
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills (both in motivating employees and influencing stakeholders)
  • Proven leadership, communication project management and change management skills
