We are seeking to recruit on behalf of our client an ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT  AND BIODIVERSITY LEAD who will be based in Qatar on a residential long term contract. Our client undertaking a transformation of the Corporate HSEQ function and are looking for Senior experienced HSEQ professionals who not only have solid discipline subject matter expertise but also the leadership and change management skills to help build a world class team. The EIA and Biodiversity Lead will be accountable to help shape and deliver pragmatic corporate standards, guidance and improvement strategies in the field of Environmental Impact Assessment and Biodiversity

Must have experience of solid subject matter experience preferably gained in and IOC and/or  International research projects with the likes of IUCN, World Bank, WWF etc

  • To be able to hold the mirror up to the organisation and intervene with respect to help ensure the right choices are made
  • To be able to escalate critical HSE issues early to ensure the right level of engagement is taking place and  to help resolve dilemmas
  • To be able to provide clear direction and professional opinion in their own discipline in the absence of consensus or when others may disagree with their views
  • Understanding and empathy for the challenges of operational, engineering and project management line management positions


  • Develop Environmental Impact Assessment and Bio-diversity Standards, Procedures and Guidelines as part of the corporate governance framework to support the aspirations of the company
  • Develop and implement a Corporate Environmental Impact Assessment and Bio-diversity improvement strategy including enhanced monitoring and reporting of proactive leading Indicators
  • Identify, develop and deliver Biodiversity projects focusing on climate change adaption and resilience
  • Project manage delivery of consultancy programs and resources
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support and coach the Environment discipline and wider HSEQ function
  • Develop and lead knowledge transfer programs to enhance the awareness and understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment and Biodiversity in an Industrial Context
  • Act with full independence in decision making at a corporate level
  • Act with full independence in facilitating senior and executive management engagement on Biodiversity and Environmental Impact Assessments
  • Review and evaluate recommendations from Managers, Assistant Managers and Section Heads to help shape and develop optimum EIA and Biodiversity Improvement Strategies
  • Extensive collaboration and consultation with all company Directorates including operational, project and office based /corporate functions
  • Ability to project manage to tight deadlines
  • Ability to personally deliver in their core discipline area as well as driving implementation by influencing decision makers and working with and through others

Experience/Qualifications Required

  • Educated to degree level in an Environmental, Natural Science or Engineering Discipline
  • Extensively experience in delivering Environmental Impact Assessment and Biodiversity  improvement programs focusing on Oil and Gas operations 15+ years
  • Have a broad understanding of methodologies for carrying out GHG and climate resilience assessments in an EIA context
  • Experience of working with Non-Governmental Organisations such as IUCN
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills (both in motivating employees and influencing stakeholders)
  • Proven leadership, communication project management and change management skills
