he EHS Manager, Environmental position’s primary responsibility is for providing leadership and management over the planning and direction of Environmental compliance activities to assure that Sensient Colors LLC complies with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, in addition to Sensient internal Environmental standards and practices.
The Environmental Manager serves as the subject matter expert for development, implementation, and leadership of Sensient Environmental and emergency planning policy/programs for Sensient Colors facilities in the U.S. (St. Louis, Missouri and ) and Canada (Kingston, Ontario). The Environmental Manager duties are expected to consume 60-65% of the workload. The remainder of the workload is dedicated to supporting the Health and Safety responsibilities of the facility.
Monitor Environmental compliance activities at all U.S./Canada Colors locations through auditing, reporting, metrics implementation, incident tracking, and investigation.
Lead the development and execution of an Environmental strategy to improve safety performance, reduce accident/injury/illness incident rates, and control workers’ compensation costs.
Serve as the facility lead for development, implementation, and execution of activities including, but not limited to :
Air Permitting and Air Compliance Management
Wastewater Permitting and Compliance Management
RCRA Management including oversight of the facility Hazardous Waste Program
Developing and Managing Environmental Compliance Programs and Procedures
New Product Review/Commercialization Review for Environmental Impact on Permits and Production Processes
Facility Compliance with SPCC and SWPP Planning and Implementation
Liaison with Regulatory Authorities regarding Environmental Issues
Preparation and Submission of all Environmental Reports, Documents and Plans
Analyze, prepare and submit Capital Budget requests for environmental compliance
Oversight and management of Vendors supporting environmental compliance activities

Toxic Release Inventory
Inventory Update Rule Report
Air Emissions Inventory Questionnaire
Hazardous Waste Generator reports
Metropolitan Sewer District: Quarterly Industrial Pretreatment Permit
Chemical specific usage reports
Assist in the coordination of regulatory compliance with the following:
Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA)
Department of Transportation (DOT)
Emergency planning and Community Right-To-Know (EPCRA/Superfund Amendment (SARA)
Clean Air Act (CAA)
This role also supports the EHS Manager, Health and Safety with the development, implementation, and execution of the Health and Safety Program including
Serve as lead for review and investigation of plant HSE incidents
Development and delivery of EHS training
Development and Management of Site Health and Safety Programs
Serve as Back-up and support for the EHS Manager, Health and Safety
Development and implementation of an on-going EHS internal audit program
Participate in the annual planning for Capital Expenditure at each location. Review all Capital Appropriation Requests for Environmental issues.
Lead the development and delivery of an Environmental training process for all assigned locations. Review and adjust the training plan on an annual basis or as needed.
Serve as facility SME to update plant management and Senior Colors Group Management regarding new laws, regulations and enforcement activities that affect Environmental requirements at the assigned facilities.
Implement and maintain an annual plan for allocating proper Environmental resources assuring compliance and injury prevention needs are addressed.
Oversee the development and management of the Risk Management Program (RMP) for the St. Louis production facility.
Ability to type/use computer keyboard.
Must be able to access office by stairs or elevator.
Must be able to drive to facilities, transporting others as necessary.
Must be able to visually distinguish colors.
Must have 20/20 vision with corrective eyeglasses, etc., if necessary.
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene required. Special training in hazardous materials management, environmental compliance, environmental regulations, is preferred. Professional certification in the field of Environmental, Health & Safety is preferred.
Minimum of seven years of environmental regulatory experience dealing with Environmental issues in a manufacturing environment is required. Registration as a Professional Engineer, CHMM, CIH, CSP or other equally respected registration or certification is desirable. Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
