£35K - £50K + car or allowance + bens


Maplefield have been engaged by one of the country’s leading tier 1 principal contractors to recruit a temporary works coordinator TWC to support a wide variety of new build, refurbishment and fit out projects projects around London and Home Counties, South East and South West.


The project portfolio consists of retail builds and refurbishments on banks, supermarkets, shopping centres and commercial builds and you will provide support on all of these projects while being office based with extensive travel to sites as and when necessary.


The role is supported by a highly experience Temporary Works Manager and will see you coordinate all planned and any subsequent temporary works from initial project design through construction to final completion, you will also help review calculations and structural designs to ensure correct application on site.


Some of the responsibilities will include the points below however the client will consider candidates that don’t necessarily meet those criteria and will consider candidates from a structural or design background able to check drawing and calculations:


  • Coordinate all temporary works
  • Ideally have previous experience managing the delivery of the temporary works packages on new build projects.
  • Ideally have experience managing and implementing temporary works design and selecting / overseeing contractors.
  • Have strong knowledge of the Health and Safety Regulations and Approved Codes of Practice in respect of temporary works.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and they ability to build relationships and influence decision making
  • Assist with the identification of scheme’s Temporary Works requirements during the design stage, as well as during construction.
  • Ensure business processes and systems for Temporary Works are implemented in particular the Temporary Works Management Procedure
  • Develop accurate design briefs in consultation with site and design teams and ensure the briefs are sent to the designer
  • Liaise with Temporary Works designers, checkers and site personnel.
  • Undertake simple (Cat 0/1) temporary works designs


Qualifications and Experience

  • Will ideally hold a civil or structural engineering degree or relevant construction degree.
  • Previous training and experience in temporary works a must
  • Experience preferably with a temporary works/civils/utilities background, with a significant & wide range of temporary works construction experience, with a sound understanding of engineering principles.
  • Some form of Health and Safety qualification with sound knowledge of application of Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge and experience of the use of the elements of temporary works. Elements of temporary works may include but are not limited to;
    • Scaffolding
    • Formwork, falsework and back propping for in situ concrete
    • Tower cranes and mobile cranes
    • Temporary support of excavators
    • Passenger and goods hoist
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CDM regulations and associated legislation
  • Experience in simple and complex lifting operations
  • Excellent communications & team working skills
  • A full UK driving licence
