Face coverings and masks are now COMPULSORY in shops in England

From the 24th July it will be compulsory to wear a face covering or masks in shops and supermarkets in England, moving England in line with Scotland and other European countries including Germany, Italy and Spain.

The government has announced that those who fail to wear masks or face coverings will face fines of up to £100. Face coverings have been encouraged for the last couple of months and were made compulsory on public transport in England since the 15th June.

Staff will be exempt from the new regulations as well as children under 11 years old and those with certain disabilities.

The police will be enforcing the new rules and issuing fines while shop workers will be asked to encourage customers to wear masks.
